Share or transfer autocorrect (acl) files

Technet entry

To use your AutoCorrect entries on another computer (or to share them with another user profile on your computer), locate the .acl files in the %AppData%\Microsoft\Office folder. (You can type the path in Windows Explorer exactly as shown here and the %AppData% environment variable will automatically expand to the full path. In Windows 7, that path is C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Office by default, but it might be different on your computer.)

Copy the two .acl files to the comparable folder on another computer or in another user’s profile.

Adding hours, minutes, and seconds in Excel 2016

This took some figuring out! Set the cells that you will be using for the calculation in the custom [h]:mm:ss format from the drop-down menu at the top of the window. Enter the numbers, making sure to put 0’s if the value is blank.

i.e. 12 hours, 5 seconds = 12:00:05

Complete the SUM function to calculate the total of the times, making sure that the result cell is also in the [h]:mm:ss format.

Things that don’t work:

Subtracting. Normally you just use the SUM function and include negative numbers to subtract them, but excel won’t accept the negative times.

60+ minutes or seconds. It just freaks out and won’t do it. You can have over 12 or 24 hours, though.

If you’re not liking this honestly pretty bad tool, this one can subtract more easily: Browser Time Calculator

THE WOMEN IN THE CASTLE by Jessica Shattuck

This is a moving book of three German women before, during and after World War II. They each face choices on dealing with Nazi evil, and those choices continue to resonate in the rest of their lives. Great narration by Cassandra Campbell.

A PIECE OF THE WORLD by Christina Baker Kline

I just finished the audiobook of A PIECE OF THE WORLD by Christina Baker Kline – the book explores the story of Christina Olson, the girl pictured in Andrew Wyeth’s 1948 painting, Christina’s World. The novel gives voice to the story of the girl in the painting: a story of love, disappointment, loneliness, art, growing up and growing old with disability on the coast of Maine.
